While gel polish can last longer than regular nail polish, and it doesn’t chip as easily, there are still a few things you need to do to maintain the quality of your nails after removing gel polish. That’s exactly what we are going to discuss in this brief guide.

Tips For Caring Nails After Gel Manicures:

Down below, we have shared some tips for caring for your natural nails after a gel manicure:

Soaking:

Soak nails in acetone for 10 or so minutes. However, do not soak your hand completely in the acetone. This might cause your skin allergy. Soak only the fingernails.

If you want to skip the soaking process, you can use a file to buff off the top layer of the polish (but that would take too much time and effort, so twice before you decide to do it).

Wrapping:

Wrap each finger in an acetone-soaked cotton ball and cover with foil. (You can skip this step if you’re filing.) Allow your nails to soak for 10-15 minutes.

Cotton Balls:

Wipe away the remaining gel polish with a cotton ball soaked in acetone. Use a fresh cotton ball for each finger. You may have to rewrap your nails if any polish remains after this step after they’ve soaked another 5-10 minutes.

Cuticle Oil:

Apply cuticle oil or moisturizer to hands and nails if they feel dry or look dull after removing the gel polish. Cuticle oil or moisturizer will your hands look healthier and fresh.

The Takeaway:

Gel nail polish is great until you know how to properly handle it. With the above-mentioned effective tips, you can take care of your hands after a gel manicure.
