Welding Fume and Dust Purification

Whether it’s malicious mold spores, destructive dust mites or sinister smoke allergens, indoor air pollutants can wreak havoc on your health. Breathing in these tiny particulates can aggravate lungs and trigger asthma attacks.

This smoke and dust purifier uses a circulating fan with one or more filters to remove contaminants from the air. central smoke anddust purification You can monitor minute-by-minute air quality on the in-room display or connect it to an app for more detailed insights.

WeldFil Welding Smoke Extraction Units

Welding fumes contain hazardous substances, such as hexavalent chromium Cr(VI), manganese and nickel, which can have a detrimental effect on the health of employees. The particles in welding smoke are small enough to easily be inhaled and penetrate deep into the lungs. They can also be ingested and can eventually reach the bloodstream. Even if the welder wears personal protective equipment (PPE), these hazardous fumes can still pose risks to other employees working in nearby areas or to production machinery.

Local exhaust ventilation (LEV) is the most effective way to capture welding fumes at source. However, there are instances where it is impractical to install an LEV system. For example, when workers move between different work stations or welding processes, it is often impossible to position a fume extractor system to capture the dangerous particles. In these situations, central or general ventilation systems can be used to filter the air in the entire area surrounding the work station.

Kemper’s WeldFil compact welding smoke extraction and filter system is a plug-and-play solution that can be installed as a central system for multiple workstations or welding robots in the same factory building. It utilizes KemTex ePTFE membrane filter cartridges to separate fine dust particles from welding smoke. These high-efficiency filter cartridges are easy to change, ensuring consistent and reliable performance without the need for interruption of the welding process.

The quality of the hall air at Aebi Schmidt is usually well below the maximum legal limits of 1 mg/m3. But the company wanted to improve the air quality even further, especially in the welding shop. They contacted KEMPER to develop a special general ventilation system that can protect the plant’s employees from hazardous substances with lung-damaging or even carcinogenic effects, such as those that are generated during metal inert gas (MIG) and metal active gas welding processes used for steel-heavy add-on parts.

The WeldFil system consists of a push/pull general ventilation unit that is placed in the welding robot gantry and has special extraction openings for capturing welding smoke. A ducting system transports the gases to a WeldFil central filter system outside the hall. There, the hazardous particles are separated out and the pure, clean air is returned to the outlets.

Levoit Core Air Purifier

Levoit Core is a great air purifier with a smart technology that has many features to improve your home’s air quality and help you breathe easier. It can remove odors, reduce dust and pollen, control the humidity in your home, and more! It is also easy to install and operate, and can be stored in smaller cabinets. The device is very light and has an easy-to-read LCD screen that allows you to easily change settings. It also comes with a quick startup guide and a full manual to help you get started.

The Levoit VeSync Core 600S Smart True HEPA Air Purifier is a compact and powerful air cleaner that can easily clean small rooms in under 12 minutes with 5 air changes. It uses patented VortexAir Technology to create a strong airflow and quiet operation. It has a three-stage filtration system that traps smoke, odors, and fumes and captures at least 97% of airborne particles 0.3 microns in size. It can also support aromatherapy by allowing you to add your favorite essential oils for an added level of relaxation.

This air purifier has a simple interface with 8 touch-sensitive indicators and buttons on the outer ring of the display panel. There are buttons to change the fan speed, turn on or off the display, set a sleep timer, and more. The controls can also be locked to prevent accidental changes, which is a nice feature.

Depending on your needs, you can choose between two replacement filters: The original filter, which is a combination of a pre-filter and True HEPA filter, and the Core 300-RF Filter, which is an advanced filter that eliminates odors from tobacco smoke, pets, cooking, and more. The latter also provides antimicrobial protection and impedes the growth of mold and bacteria.

Another great feature is that the Levoit VeSync Core remembers most of its settings when unplugged and adds a new light detection setting as well as a display lock when plugged in. It also has a low power consumption mode to save energy and a remote control for your convenience.

KEMPER Central High-Vacuum WeldFil

While extraction torches have a reputation for being difficult to use, they are the ideal solution when it comes to welding fume and dust extraction. Using an extraction nozzle directly on the torch, they reliably extract hazardous substances from their source without destroying their protective gas envelope. Although management initially skepticised the idea of using extraction torches, the company quickly changed their minds after testing: The VacuFil 250 high vacuum system extracted so much welding fume that management was convinced within days and ordered 13 systems for 26 workplaces.

In addition to supplying the extraction system for manual welding, Kemper central smoke anddust purification also helped Aebi Schmidt improve fume extraction during automated processes. The company was looking for a solution that would push the concentration of harmful substances in the hall air below legal limits while allowing for flexibility in production.

Based on this requirement, Kemper installed a push-pull general ventilation system in the welding robot gantry. Its special extraction openings capture the hazardous substances at a height of around four metres above the equipment. These are then transported by a customised ducting system to the central WeldFil filter system located outside the hall.

These high-quality welding smoke extraction and filtration systems are robust, reliable, and solid and are suitable for large welding centers or training centres. They feature KemTex ePTFE membrane filter cartridges that filter ultra-fine dust particles down to 0.1 microns, which means that even chromium-nickel steel chips are not able to escape back into the hall air. If more capacity is required, the system can be expanded flexibly by means of modular extensions. The resulting clean hall air ensures optimal working conditions for the employees.
