If you have been lucky enough to try gel nail polish, you know that it is one of the best inventions of all time. Gel nail polish can last up to 14 days without chipping!

The problem is that sometimes the traditional methods of curing the nails don’t give you the longevity that they promise. Luckily there are a few things you can do to make your gel manicure last longer than ever!

First, you need to start with a clean slate on your nails. Start by removing any old polish and soaking your hands in warm water for about five minutes. This will help remove any excess oil from your nail bed. After soaking, make sure to dry your hands completely before applying any nail polish.

Next, use a good base coat to protect your nails from staining and for added adhesion. We recommend applying a thin coat of BLUESKY base coat first and then curing it at least for two solid minutes before applying color.

Once you have applied your color, place your nails under the UV light for two minutes to cure each coat of color and topcoat (90 seconds if using LED).

For best results, wait 24 hours before getting your hands wet after curing under UV light. Not only will using a UV/LED light help to protect against chipping and fading, but it also helps prevent bacteria from growing under your nails due to the heat-free process.
